My HVAC air handler coil is dry?
The A-coil in my HVAC air handler is dry. Water does not condense on it during the cooling season, ever. It's been this way since I had the unit replaced. But the humidity in my house typically is pushing 70% which I know is bad for furniture, wood work, and general air quality. A HVAC company has checked the system twice and all the pressures and temperatures are within spec. What's causing this, and how would I fix it?
i would suggest a dehumidifier to lower the moisture level in the air. i don't know why your arent getting 50% humidity in your conditioned air. that's a tough question. your ac guys have already looked at it so i would suggest a stand alone dehumidifier.
it could be you have an issue with the metering device. this is a tough question. do you live in a high humidity area? do you have a TXV valve, (thermal expansion valve), or a cap tube for the metering device? if it's a TXV, the only way to check it is by super heat. we want to make certain the valve is dumping the correct amount of uncompressed refrigerant into the indoor coil. if it's not, the unit may still work but not at an efficient level.
