Why is my horse feed hard? When it comes out of the bag its not I put it in a storage bin (plastic) so mice can't get to it. I buy the 12% sweet feed
I am assuming the 12% sweet feed is the sprout stuff. I did a diet analysis on it- and it is really a poor quality using the cheapest ingredients. It is hard because they put no effort into making it palatable for the horses. My horse eats anything and everything-but won't touch that stuff.
It is actually cheaper if you go to a local feed mill and buy a sweet feed mixture- usually there is a min. of 250lbs of grain order, but it lasts a while and rounds down to about 6-7 dollars a bag- made the way you want it.
