How To Properly Store Film And Digital Pictures

Pictures serve as reminders of precious moments in the past. They make for great entertainment pieces when people come over for a visit. That's why keeping them organized and well-preserved is key.

Fortunately, technological advancements make storage and management of photographs very convenient. This is especially true when using digital cameras when taking snapshots. However, there are photographs taken before the advent of digital cameras. Those taken with conventional film cameras may require more work on your part for storage.

Many people still can't get over the charm exclusive to film photography. The old feel to it is something that modern digicams can not completely take the limelight from. No matter which you prefer, traditional film or digital, there are ways to make your photos live longer.

Let us start with photos taken with a traditional film camera. All those you wish to showcase are stored in photo frames or albums. But the rest are likely to end up in boxes. When storing photos in boxes, try to insert acid-free lining in between them. Better yet, place each one in polyester cases. Then store these boxes atop shelves, away from heat, light and moisture.

As with the negatives, keep them away from heat and light. Let them stay in those plastic cases given when you get your films processed. If you have lost the negatives of some of your pictures, worry not. Simply scan the pictures themselves in order for you to have digital backups. They will come in handy if you wish to have pictures reproduced.

If you wish to place some of your photos in a scrapbook album, you might want to consider some helpful tips. If possible, use a digital copy or reproduction of the photos, and store the originals properly. When using the originals for your hobby, place the finished product in safe places. They should be stored in clean, cool and dark places.

Now onto proper storage and archiving of digital photographs. Today, you got plenty of choices when it comes to storage medium. It's best to have your digital photos burned onto CDs and DVDs. Make two copies, and store both in high-quality sleeves or cases.

Do not be contented with storing them on flash drives, memory cards and the likes. These could get corrupted, and your digital photographs are forever gone. Also, in the future, newer storage media will be introduced. Remember to upgrade where your digital photographs are stored as technology progresses.

A photo of your daughter's first stage play or your son's trip to the Alps wearing a giro ski helmet is priceless. That's why, whether taken with a film camera or digicam, you must take good care of your photos. If so, they will last for a long time, for your grand kids to enjoy.

how much would a medium polyester shirt weigh if its wet??

The same is true with a polyester shirt as with a cotton one. The weight of the wet shirt would be contingent on the amount of water absorbed in the fabric as well as the original weight of the shirt prior to being wet. It would be easiest to wet the shirt and weigh it.

Controversial plant resumes production in China (KSAT)

A chemical plant in northeast China that sparked huge protests last summer
amid concerns about its safety has resumed production, despite earlier
assurances that it would relocated.

A local government official in the city of Dalian, who declined to be named,
said the plant, owned by Fujia Dahua Petrochemical Company, is back in
operation but insisted current production had passed "the national safety
checks."

In August, tens of thousands of local residents took to the streets demanding
the relocation of the plant after it threatened to spill toxins into the city
when a typhoon breached a dike nearby. The plant produces Paraxylene (PX), a
reportedly carcinogenic chemical used in the production of polyester films and
fabrics.

The local government closed down the plant after the protest and promised to
move the factory to an industrial park outside the city, but did not say when
the move would take place.

The protest was viewed as the latest example of China's urban middle class --
long considered the main beneficiaries of the government's economic reforms --
banding together, often via the internet, to defend their rights.

But in December, Chinese media reported that Dalian's local government had
reversed its decision, an ...
