How do I determine how long it would take to discharge a capacitor?
I am building a railgun and I have a 3000 volt 4 MFD capacitor I am thinking on useing some sort of trigger coil or Thyristor to see if this is feasable I need to determine how long the Capacitor will hold a charge. So yeah thanks alot guys

theoretically,the time needed for a capacitor to fully discharge will be infinity. but just discharge it anyway and measure the voltage of the capacitor. if the voltage comes to the point where it's negligible (let say 0.0001 V), then just assume that you have fully discharge the capacitor~
